Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Motor Vehicle Instructor to deliver Level 1 and 2 ABC and IMI qualifications to learners at Haybrook College. This is a part time position for 3 days/week, Tuesday to Thursday.

Haybrook College educates young people aged 11 to 19 who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) or medical needs to ensure they have the best possible educational and personal outcomes. In collaboration with the Slough Pitstop Project, we offer a vocational curriculum of Motor Vehicle, Construction and Catering qualifications to Haybrook College pupils and those from local mainstream and special schools.

You will be teaching a range of qualifications to small groups of 14 – 16 year olds as well as to a post 16 cohort from both Haybrook College and from local secondary and special schools. Experience of successfully managing the learning of pupils with challenging behaviour is essential. Whilst a teaching qualification would be advantageous, it is not an essential requirement. The excellent training facilities are based on Slough Trading Estate.

You will be an energetic, highly resilient and adaptable individual who can ensure challenges are met and problems are solved. A high level of understanding of SEMH, SEND, safeguarding, equality and fairness are very important, as well as a good sense of humour, openness and compassion; all of which will be needed in this role to support young people through these challenging times.

We would prefer qualified teachers but unqualified with experience also considered.

Interested candidates are encouraged to look at our website www.haybrookcollege.co.uk to see the different programmes on offer.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 29 November 2021

The Job Description, Person Specification and Application Form can be downloaded from the Vacancies page of our website www.haybrookcollege.co.uk Please note that CVs will not be accepted without a completed application form.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, it is College policy to obtain references prior to interview. Applicants will be required to undertake a DBS enhanced disclosure. Haybrook College strives to be an equal opportunities employer and recruits from all sections of the community solely on basis of ability to fulfil the job requirements.
