Salary - £16,911 per annum Pro Rata - £7,053
Hours – 18.5 hours per week, term time only
Location – Southampton – Totton College

Totton College offers vocational courses to school leavers and adults, covering BTECs, Diplomas, Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

Who we are looking for?

The college is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed technician to assist in ensuring the smooth running of the Motor Vehicle Department. You will previously have Motor Vehicle Experience and ideally have a Motor Vehicle Qualification.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To undertake regular stock control to ensure the cost effective management and use of stock
  • To manage and maintain Health and Safety across the department including risk assessment and COSHH data.
  • To assist and prepare for internal and external events such as training and community activities for staff and students.
  • To monitor student activities in the workshop as directed by the teaching staff
  • To ensure the provision of products and materials for teaching & learning purposes.

The successful applicant will be a highly practical person with good communication skills and an understanding of working with young people, who is flexible and enjoys working as part of a team. They will ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained in the workshops. Training can be given on all specialist equipment.

A DBS check will be required for this role.

 Totton College is a sixth form and further education facility in Hampshire. Facilities at the Totton College site include the Opus Salon, gym, media suite, and dance studio. The school is located adjacent to Totton Health And Leisure Centre. The town of Totton has a population of 29,000, and can be accessed by rail and the M27 motorway. The school also hosts facilities in Southampton, which is a fifteen minute drive away. In 2015 the college entered into a merger with crime reduction charity Nacro.
