Job overview

9 month fixed term contract

Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) is an English and French co-educational boarding IB World School for 440 pupils. With its Arts and Learning Centre, the Paul et Henri Carnal Hall, Le Rosey has a broad offering of artistic and sporting “co-curricular” activities. For September we are seeking a music intern or “stagiaire”

This is an outstanding opportunity for a practising musician proficient on one or more musical instrument(s), ideally with expertise in music technology (music software, recording, sound production) and composition.

The person appointed will:

  • assist and support the Artistic Director/Head of Music
  • be able to assist in the teaching of classes
  • run music production/music technology sessions and activities
  • supervise instrumental practice sessions
  • become involved in the broader and particularly the artistic life of the Rosey community

This is a residential position from September 2018 until the end of June 2019: it would suit a recently qualified music graduate looking to gain experience.

As well as possessing ability and potential in their field, the ideal intern/music assistant will be energetic, flexible and dynamic with an interest in international education. The ability to communicate in both English and French would be a distinct advantage.

In return, Le Rosey will offer:

  • Return travel to and from Geneva at the beginning and end of contract
  • Shared accommodation on the Rolle campus
  • Free tickets for all the events in the Rosey Concert Hall and use of school’s extensive sporting and artistic facilities
  • A monthly payment of CHF 1,200

Slightly fuller details can be consulted on the school website. Expressions of interest should be addressed to the Artistic Director, Rachel Gray, at rgray@rosey.ch. They must be by email and include: a statement of interest, a CV, a photo, and the names of three referees.

Closing date: 30 April 2018

About Institut Le Rosey

Founded in 1880, Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) offers a rounded bilingual education in English and/or French for 440 students aged 8-18, leading to the IB Diploma and French baccalauréat.  It also offers a unique two-campus system through its move from a 75-acre château setting by Lake Geneva to the school’s alpine campus every winter term. An IB World School, Le Rosey is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and MSA.

An International Mission

Le Rosey is a highly international community, with well over 60 nationalities in its student body, and over 20 on the teaching staff.  The cultural and linguistic diversity of its 440 students is guaranteed by selective admissions with no more than 10% of students from any country. This multinational mix creates a special and very friendly campus atmosphere, as well as enhancing global awareness and international understanding.

Academics

In addition to promoting bilingualism and biculturalism, Le Rosey offers a broad academic programme and range of IB and “Pre-Bac” subjects, with an exceptionally strong tradition in foreign languages.  Class sizes are small and the main campus in Rolle is particularly well equipped.  All students without exception sit the full diploma of the IB or the French “bac”; results are excellent (IB/French bac average of 36+ points), and all students go on to universities in the USA, UK and across the world, with well over 30% to the Ivy League, Ivy league Plus, Oxbridge, and top-ranked universities across the world.

Sports, Arts and Expeditions

Le Rosey is committed to holistic educational principles.  An exceptionally varied, sports, expedition, arts and cultural programme takes full advantage of facilities which include riding stables, a sailing centre, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness and “wellness” centre.  There is also a strong winter sports tradition. The school boasts an exceptional state-of-the-art Arts and Learning Centre and 900-seat concert hall (www.roseyconcerthall.ch) on its Rolle campus.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing Statement

Institut Le Rosey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment. All new employees are required to undertake a security clearance, which includes providing criminal records reports as well as a special excerpt from the Swiss criminal records for people working with children.

Diversity Statement

Le Rosey is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through valuing diversity. Staff, students, and teachers work toward the furthering of an inclusive and supportive environment. As such, we encourage and welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
