Job overview

Do you have a passion for Music?

Are you a creative and inspiring primary practitioner?

The Raglan Schools is a federation of Raglan Infant and Junior Schools with 930 pupils and 120 staff. Both schools have been rated good by OfSTED, with the latest inspection in March 2016 (Juniors) and February 2018 (Infants). Music is one of the key areas of our curriculum and together with the newly appointed Head of Music you will teach across the primary phase and provide a wide range of opportunities within the curriculum. We have a thriving musical school with three choirs and a variety of ensembles including woodwind, brass and strings. Music begins in EYFS through to KS2 where all pupils learn to play different instruments through a whole-class instrumental programme. We enrich the curriculum further with workshops in Dhol Drumming, Samba Drumming and Gospel Singing. There are also many opportunities to perform through concerts, recitals and shows.

The role will involve:

● teaching music across the primary phase;

● supporting staff to develop their knowledge and skills;

● developing extra-curricular opportunities in Music;

● nurturing talent and finding opportunities for performance.

Our ideal teacher will:

● be an excellent musician;

● inspire our children to aim high;

● have creative ideas to motivate pupils;

● have knowledge and music skills to develop the Music curriculum;

● lead extra-curricular opportunities and opportunities for performance.

The Music role is part-time (3 days) but there are possibilities to extend this up to full-time teaching if the ideal candidate wishes to consider a class share arrangement or cover. We are flexible so come and have a chat.

At Raglan we are able to offer you:

● A supportive and hardworking team of staff;

● keen and enthusiastic pupils;

● PPA time in line with teaching time;

● professional development to suit your stage of development.
