Job overview

Could you be a teacher in Greig City Academy’s Music Department? We want a dynamic teacher to join our very successful Creative Arts Faculty, which comprises music, drama and art. Music is taught at all key stages and is a popular choice at KS4 and KS5 where we currently offer BTEC courses. Students have achieved outstanding results in recent years and the department has a reputation for presenting high quality, exciting public performances.

Instrumental and vocal clubs run before and after school and at lunchtime five days a week. There is a high take-up of individual peripatetic music lessons. David Mishra, Head of Creative Arts, can promise you a high level of support and encouragement in helping to develop the department even further.

The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between managers and staff and between colleagues, and between staff and pupils. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and all our staff are involved in running at least one. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

Your personal development is important to us. You will be able to apply for one of our Learning Awards up to the annual value of £2,400, which could enable you to develop particular talents or skills. This is in addition to the school’s CPD programme. Other benefits include cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes.

Please download the application form via the TES website or the school’s website and email your completed application to voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk.

Closing date for receiving completed application forms is 3 pm on Wednesday 24 May

Please note that we reserve the right to close or extend this position depending on application numbers, therefore we would urge candidates to submit an application at their earliest opportunity.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff. It is committed to the principle of equal opportunities; we welcome all applicants and value the diversity they bring.
