We seek a reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic person for this role to support teachers in the Music Department.

Scope of role: 

The post offers support to every aspect of the music department in a variety of roles to ensure the smooth running of all the department’s activities and events. This includes setting up for performances, assisting with audio/visual/lighting recording and mixing live sound. The post holder will be expected on occasion to move and lift equipment and instruments around the site throughout the day. 

Main responsibilities: 

In a typical day, duties may range from: 

• Setting-up for recordings, rehearsals, gigs or concerts. 

• Assisting with operating a mixing desk and balancing live sound. Sometimes this will be in professional music venues throughout the city and involve evenings.

• Preparing exam recordings and audio visual recording of musical performances

• Some administrative support to the Director of Music such as photocopying and scanning orchestral parts for pupils’ study purposes

• Keeping the department and hall stage safe/tidy and maintaining equipment 

• Any other duties to aid the smooth running of the Music Department

We are looking for a person: 

With significant experience as an industry professional or a minimum level 4 recognised qualification in Music/Sound production. You must:

• Be highly organised, flexible and versatile. 

• Must have knowledge and experience in recording and live sound operation and highly computer-literate ideally familiar with Sibelius, Logic and Pro-Tools software. 

• Be experienced in recording techniques and can follow instructions closely and thoroughly but can also use your initiative. 

• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of people and to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. 

• Be comfortable working alongside pupils who range from age 11 to 18. 

• Be professionally dressed and punctual at all times
