Job overview
We are looking for a committed individual to join us as our Network Assistant.
The Bishop of Llandaff is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school serving the Christian and non-Christian communities within the city and surrounding areas including The Vale of Glamorgan, Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Bridgend. Standards of achievement at all levels are exceptionally high, with outcomes consistently performing amongst the best schools in Wales and rest of the UK. However, the school is more than just about examination outcomes. Our students take part in a broad range of activities that help them become "well-rounded" and our strong Christian ethos helps shape our students to become positive role models in our society. It genuinely is a happy place to learn and work! We want every student to have the best start in life by providing them with an outstanding education! We seek to ensure each student in our care achieves their full potential academically; develops the skills necessary to be successful in our ever-changing world; and understands a sense of morality guided by the gospel values of love, acceptance, responsibility and forgiveness. These aims are delivered through a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences, a strong pastoral system and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, physical and extra-curricular activities.
About the role
The Network team plays a key role in the life of the school in supporting students and staff in the delivery of the curriculum.
In recent years, the school invested heavily in technology within the classrooms so that every room has an interactive board which can help stimulate exciting learning experiences. Furthermore, each member of teaching staff has a 2-in-1 device, which connects remotely with the board, while most other staff have access to a laptop or desktop. In addition, the school has several sets of iPads/Chrome Books available for departments to use on a booking system.
There are four dedicated IT suites set up within the school. All suites have in excess of 30 networked PCs with access to printing facilities, a range of software, including Microsoft Office, animation, web development, graphics, programming, and subject specific software for cross curricular use. Students use a range of computer peripherals within lessons including headphones, microphones, and digital cameras.
There are more than 600 devices at the school and our network team provide strong support to both staff and students. We have a range of hard and software at the school which requires technical support to ensure the highest quality learning materials are available to students and staff.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about IT and wants to help others use this to support young people to achieve. All new staff receive a bespoke programme of induction, and support staff are given opportunities to access fully-funded leadership programmes to support their own professional development.
