Our internal IT team are at the centre of ensuring our schools can thrive within a technologically advanced environment and due to their continued success, they now have an opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join the team. You will provide a comprehensive, efficient, high quality 2nd and 3rd line technical support service for all aspects of the core Network Infrastructure and related technologies. You will also assist in the planning and implementation of Network Infrastructure projects aligned to organisational objectives and the global/regional IT strategy. 

For this pivotal role we are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is able to work well both within a team and independently, whilst contributing positively to the whole IT department. 


What we are looking for: 

• Possess at least 5 years’ experience providing network support, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting for a medium to large network

• Have experience with Cisco, HP, Ubiquiti, MPLS / VPLs networks 

• Experience with Solarwinds and monitoring tools 

• Possess a methodical and balanced approach to implementing change 

• Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills 

• You must have a valid UK driving license 

• Have GCSE’s Grade C or above in English and Maths 

• Have strong verbal and written communication skills 

• Respect the organisations Ethos and Values

Key Responsibilities of the role:

• Providing remote or on-site support for all UK locations 

• Administration and on-going support of switches, routers and firewalls 

• Administration of network and system monitoring tools including Solarwinds 

• Providing support for VPNs, Wi-Fi and routing protocols 

• Maintaining network configurations and implementing security best practices 

• Network Infrastructure design, planning and documentation

• Overseeing network health, performance and availability 

• Providing redundancy and business continuity for core network services 

• Maintaining up to date standards and documentation for the network infrastructure 

• Functioning as part of a team on larger projects 

• Individually providing support for smaller projects 

• Physically installing and configuring network equipment in line with business needs 

• Documenting the solution for ongoing support 

• Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating systems and Active Directory architecture 

• Use the organisations call logging stem to maintain accurate records of all investigations and work undertaken in response to technical support issues to ensure up-to-date information is always available for all members of the information technology department 

• Communicate information technology issues and share specialist knowledge to the IT Infrastructure Manager / Senior Infrastructure Engineer / UK IT Manager and staff at all levels across all services 

• Liaise effectively with 3rd party suppliers and support providers to ensure solutions are provided within expected service levels to minimise disruption to the organisations operational / educational functions 

• Apply technical knowledge to analyse, investigate and resolve highly complex information technology issues where there are several possible options and outcomes 

• Continue to acquire specialist knowledge of relevant emerging technology developments within the cloud and network spere
