Innovative programmes that started life at Ark includes; Mathematics Mastery, Teaching Leaders and Future Leaders.

This is an exciting time for an exceptional maths leader to join our energetic and innovative education team. We are looking for someone who is keen to work with our partners in Mathematics Mastery to develop this approach across our secondary schools and support our Maths teams meet the exciting challenges of the new curricular in KS4 and 5. Our current network lead has built a strong network of maths teachers across our schools who regularly train, plan and moderate together and we are keen to build on this as well as expand our student facing STEM focused events. The successful candidate will be leading a new team of maths network lead teachers to support and challenge maths teams in schools across the network at various stages in their school improvement journey.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have an outstanding record of leading the improvement of maths provision in one or more schools
  • have an up-to-date knowledge of the subject curricula and assessment requirements
  • have proven experience of identifying, and implementing effective strategies for improving Mathematics attainment in urban schools at KS3, 4 and preferably 5
  • be able to travel to schools across the whole network
  • have a highly effective style that is both consultative and influential
  • be able to demonstrate resilience, motivation and commitment to driving up standards of achievement
  • be aligned with Ark’s ethos of growth mindset, high aspirations and high expectations of self and others.

This year network activity has delivered:

  • A series of outstanding subject-specific training sessions for Mathematics teachers
  • In-school training and bespoke support
  • The development of the KS3 and 4 curriculum framework alongside Mathematics Mastery
  • A collaboration with Mathematics Mastery to design and test KS3 Termly and end of year assessments to work alongside the Ark Assessment+ (life after levels) model
  • Runs a highly successful series of student maths enrichment activities culminating in our network wide maths wrangle.
