In doing this, you will work with our schools to ensure that:

  • Every pupil has access to the same range of high-quality sporting opportunities
  • Every pupil receives the best possible experience in PE, play and sport, whether as a participant, competitor, young leader, coach or official. This will include a strong focus on health and well-being, progressive, challenging high-quality physical education and fully inclusive school sport, coaching and competition

In this role you will develop a comprehensive curriculum and enrichment programme that reaches, inspires and engages all pupils in the Ark network – whatever their age or ability. You’ll sustain connections and relationships across our network of schools, local and national partners, and you can expect to be closely involved in fundraising. Innovation, inclusion and a deep-rooted commitment to enabling young people to reach their full potential will be key drivers in all that you do.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with teachers, leaders and pupils to develop and implement a network PE and school sport strategy
  • Collect and collate evidence from all schools that will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the strategy
  • Work with SLs PE to monitor and evaluate the impact of PE and school sport in raising whole school standards in all Ark schools
  • Make effective use of resources and facilities across Ark and explore opportunities for development
  • Work with schools to develop and implement a programme of festivals and competitions across Ark
  • Encourage and support young people to access local sports clubs and community provision
  • Identify links between the development of young leaders and the broader education of young people

Key Requirements:

  • Proven to have achieved strong outcomes for pupils over the past five years at least (this will include, but is not limited to: thriving school enrichment, consistently high pupil numbers and results at KS4. Similar experience at KS5 is favourable)
  • Skilled at drawing on a wide range of sports to create a rich and varied pupil experience
  • Highly organised and efficient in completing a wide variety of work to tight deadlines
  • Genuine passion and a belief in the potential of every young person
  • Qualified Teacher Status

  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising with each year of service
  • We are committed to providing high-quality professional learning throughout your career with us and offer a variety of training sessions and experiences designed to meet your needs
  • Access to Ark Rewards scheme offering savings from over 3,000 major retailers, interest-free loans available for season tickets or a bicycle and gym discounts offering up to 40% off your local gym
  • As an Ark Schools staff member, you will have the opportunity to be part of the generous Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), a salary average defined benefit pension scheme - this means you build up a guaranteed amount in your pension, payable for every year of your retirement.  We also offer an alternative workplace pension scheme where we make an 11% contribution
