Job overview

The Network Manager is an important part of the school and has the responsibility for ensuring the ICT systems are safe, secure, reliable, regularly backed up, working efficiently and effectively.

It is essential that the school is at the forefront of efficient and effective ICT systems which contribute to School’s vision of achieving educational excellence through Information and Communications Technology.

  • This is a full time, permanent appointment and the working week is 36.5 hours.


  • The salary is paid at NJC 28 and the actual salary is £34,723 per annum.


  •  While previous school-based working experience is desirable it is not essential however applicants called for interview will be expected to show an understanding of the challenges of working in a school environment and the different needs presented by staff and students.


  •  A GCSE “C” grade or its equivalent in English Language & Mathematics will be expected together with evidence of recent training in information technology. During the interview candidates will be required to demonstrate their IT knowledge.


  • The successful candidate must be approachable, a good listener, resilient and possess a good sense of humour. They will be equally comfortable working as a member of a team or alone and will enjoy problem solving. The ability to work under pressure and prioritise is essential.

King Edward VI Aston School is an academy school for boys based in Birmingham for students aged 11-18. It is a Christian school.

A selective grammar school for boys and one of the twelve schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham.  It has been part of the Aston community since 1883 and has strong links with many local schools and organisations primarily through the work of its Sports Partnership.

Healthy competition is said to be central to the ethos of the school. Students are also afforded the opportunity to take up high levels of leadership and responsibility at the school.
