Job overview

ACS International Schools is pleased to announce the expansion of our Inspiring Minds: Early Career Teaching Programme

We are looking to recruit recently-graduated and early career teachers at our schools for an August 2024 start. The purpose of this programme is to positively impact student learning outcomes and inspire lifelong learning through an innovative programme of educator support, talent development, and career progression.

Serving global and local families, ACS International Schools educate over 3,200 students, aged 2 to 18, day and boarding, from more than 100 countries. Our schools – three in Greater London and one in Doha, Qatar – are all non-sectarian and co-educational. At the heart of our approach is the idea of readiness: we empower students to become confident individuals, caring contributors, and effective learners, so they leave our schools ready to change the world. Our world-renowned curriculum includes all International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes, and top US programmes including Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the AP Capstone and International Diplomas.

As a registered charity you will be part of a collective mission to inspire the next generation of global thinkers and doers. Together, we are passionate about enabling more students to benefit from an ACS unique education, building inspirational spaces across our four campuses and supporting teaching excellence.

We are looking for recently-qualified teachers (QTS or equivalent) who are entering either their first or second year of teaching. We are currently only looking for Middle/High School qualified teachers in the following subjects:

  • Social Studies
  • English

Person specification:

  • Caring. A good listener who displays genuine empathy, compassion, and respect.
  • Collaborative. Enjoys being part of a team, celebrates the success of others, and knows how to give and receive critical friendship. Coachable and open.
  • Culturally Responsive. Appreciates the richness of the international experience, bringing students’ cultures, languages, and life experiences into the classroom.
  • Engaged with the community; aware of local and global challenges; willing to pitch in and give back.
  • Optimistic with a high degree of self-efficacy (a belief that you can make a difference) and a sense of humour.
  • Passionate for the subject and profession, committed to the welfare of children. Self-disciplined with high personal standards and an ambition to learn.
  • Resilient. Doesn’t give up or grow discouraged in the face of challenges, set-backs, or hard work; willing to take the long view. Able to change course, make new plans, and try a different way.
  • Responsible. Exercises good judgement, acts with fairness and integrity, and complies with regulations and programme requirements.

You will be a member of a Resident Teaching Team, a tightly collaborative team of three educators who are responsible for teaching the classes that would traditionally be taught by two teachers individually. The three have varying levels of responsibility; the Teacher Lead holds the overall accountability for the students’ learning outcomes, but is closely supported by the two Teacher Residents. The schedule is structured to maximise time for supporting teacher growth: direct coaching, observation, modelling, co-teaching, co-planning, and small group instruction.

All three team members have dedicated time for professional learning in areas that are proven to result in student growth. They are each engaged in select micro credentials such as Building Classroom Culture, Addressing Learning Differences, and Data Driven Instruction.
