Our NQT induction programme, delivered through our outstanding Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance, aims to welcome new teachers and build their self-confidence in the first few weeks of their career. There is regular contact with other NQTs within and across subject areas, and a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning sessions throughout the year.

Every NQT has a professional mentor who works with you to make sure your training and support needs are met. You will have the opportunity to observe lessons being delivered by experienced teachers. There are also a wide range of additional programmes open to NQTs through the Teaching School Alliance to help you achieve your career ambitions more quickly.

Academy Ethos

At Harris Junior Academy Carshalton we want our school to be a calm and caring learning community in which everyone feels safe, happy and valued.

We give each child all the time and attention that they need to develop their reading, writing and maths skills. We then build on this by providing the children with creative and vibrant learning experiences through which they will develop a love of learning, an ability to think independently and a desire to be the best they can be.

We want our children to leave HJAC as confident and successful learners, who understand themselves and are responsible in the way they conduct themselves. We want them to possess the skills and attitudes to make the most of future opportunities and to contribute to their local community and beyond.
