To complete our team at Campus des Nations, we are looking for a:


Nurse and student counsellor

Part-time (30 hours/week) – 2 year-initial contract

Responsibilities:


Medical and emotional Care

• To administer First Aid for pupils and staff

• Provide a space for reception, care, listening, support, advice, information and guidance for students and their families 

• To care for pupils who are unwell and liaise with their parents

• Treat all accidents and illnesses during the school day and to follow up and refer, where necessary 

• To make provision for children’s health needs in schools

• To be responsible for maintaining First Aid resources

• To prepare medical packs for school trips

• To keep records of pupils needing medication and of medication given

• To keep records in our database of students visits and reasons and share that data at regular meetings

• Follow the vaccination programme of each student and offer routine vaccines to staff 

• Administer yearly check-up (weight, height, eyes, hearing controls, etc.) to all pupils and to monitor those pupils with difficulties


Training

• Provide information on preventative medicine for staff groups, where appropriate 

• Advise staff of students with medical conditions e.g. allergy, epilepsy, heart weakness etc. 

• Go to outdoor education weeks or important school events in order to provide first aid if needed

• Give personal hygiene and elementary physiology lessons in the School throughout the school year 

• Participate in the Health & Social Studies curriculum and hold lessons and discussions with students in both 


Community 

• Develop community health promotion and prevention activities, in partnership with various internal and external stakeholders 

• Respond in partnership with peers and relevant services to the needs related to the integration, support and protection of students 

• Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection – reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. 

• Be a member of the child protection enforcement body, the ‘Groupe de référence’


Candidate requirements:

• Qualifications in psychology or relevant field would be a strong advantage

• Qualified registered nurse, with Swiss qualifications 

• Previous experience of working in a school environment

• Previous experience of dealing with young people

• Confidence, warmth, sensitivity, reliability, maturity and enthusiasm

• Ability to interact positively with pupils, parents, colleagues and visitors to the school

• Efficient and organised, able to deal with all matters in a calm, professional manner

• Ability to maintain records, using school software

• Capable of working effectively as a member of a team

• Fluency in French and English

• Good written and oral communication

About International School of Geneva

The International School of Geneva is a mainstream, all-through, co-educational, independent, non-denominational school for children aged 3-18. It is situated across three campuses in and around Geneva in Switzerland. There are over 2000 students across the campuses.

The school was founded in 1924 with just 8 students and a rabbit. It was founded by local educators and officials of the League of Nations and ILD to provide an international education based on the programme of educational principles of the education nouvelle movement.

It is the oldest and largest functional international school in the world.
