Job overview

Role: Nursery Deputy Manager

Full time – Term Time plus 3 Weeks – Permanent

Salary: Grade 9 (£25,694-£28,203 pro rata)

Start date: September 2017

Heyford Park Free School, for both primary and secondary students, opened in September 2013 and draws students from Upper Heyford, local villages and from Bicester. There are a lot of new houses being built locally and our numbers will grow with the new development: we currently have over 150 primary children and over 200 secondary students.

We aim to know every one of our students well as individuals, providing an environment that allows them to achieve what they are truly capable of by promoting both academic progress and a ‘can do’ attitude.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join Heyford Park Free School at a relatively early stage of our growth and development. We are passionate about children’s learning and development, and look to help all to achieve to their full potential.

The next stage of our development is to open a Nursery for children aged three and four in September 2017. This will be on our specialisms campus, with its exciting facilities, in a purpose-built Nursery room. It will be managed by our EYFS co-ordinator, who is one of our Reception teachers. This will be a teacher-led provision, and the Nursery Teacher will work closely alongside a Deputy Manager who will be responsible for much of the day-to-day management of the Nursery.

Nursery Deputy Manager:

You will work alongside a Nursery teacher and together will be responsible for leading and managing a team of support staff, with the support of the EYFS co-ordinator. You will have the chance to be at the beginning of this project, implementing systems which enable effective and efficient delivery of high quality provision and enabling all to achieve.

You will be:

  • able to engage with and inspire children
  • excited by the potential to develop innovative practice in a new setting in a relatively new school
  • able to create engaging learning environments
  • enthusiastic, passionate, flexible and hard-working
  • an outstanding team player

You will be asked to deliver excellent outcomes and progress for all children.  In return we can offer an exciting opportunity to work with an experienced and forward-thinking team.  As a growing school we offer many opportunities for development.

  • We welcome visits to the school: please contact Rebecca Hughes, Head of Primary, at rhughes@heyfordparkfreeschool.org
  • Closing Date for applications is Friday 5th May 2017
  • Interviews will be held week beginning Monday 22nd May 2017

Applications must be made using the HPFS Application Form which should be submitted along with  Equal Opportunities and Personal statements by email to recruitment@heyfordparkfreeschool.org

Heyford Park Free School is a small and inclusive all-through Free School that takes students from the age of 4 through to 19 and encourages them to flourish, recognise their strengths and identify their own aims and aspirations.

The school is located at the heart of Heyford Park in Oxfordshire – the site of a former RAF and US Air Force base – and reflects the strong community spirit we have here at Heyford Park.

It is our aim to know every one of our students well, providing an environment that not only allows them to achieve what they are truly capable of, but also equips them with excellent academic qualifications and a ‘can do’ attitude. We want out students to be able to create the right pathway for themselves while making a meaningful contribution to their communities.
