Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School was founded in 1943 by Mrs Ottilie Hild as a private day school and was originally called Ottilie Hild School. In 1986 it became part of Bromsgrove School and moved to its present spacious and rural setting, on the outskirts of Bromsgrove, in 2000.

The Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School, together with the Preparatory and Senior Schools, provide continuity of education for children from age 2+ to 18 years.
It has spacious and light classrooms, equipped with interactive whiteboards, with high teacher to pupil ratios and small class sizes, to ensure each pupils individual needs are met.

The Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School’s outdoor facilities include a Forest School classroom, an outdoor theatre and adventure trail and large gardens for play and PE lessons. The friendly, secure family atmosphere of the school encourages children to become independent learners and caring members of our community.

The Pre-Preparatory and Nursery school operates an ‘open door’ policy, so that parents can talk with staff, at convenient times, about any aspect of their child’s academic progress and welfare.

The class teacher is the appointed Key person for a child’s academic and pastoral care during their time at school. The classroom assistants support the class teacher in this capacity.

During the academic year there are two formal Parents’ Evenings and one open afternoon, when the children share their work with their parents. In addition, two written reports are sent home during the year; a progress letter at the end of the Michaelmas term and a full report at the end of the Summer term.

Prior to entry, children are invited to spend a morning in school with their prospective year group, during which informal assessments will take place. Children seeking admission into Year 2 will also be assessed more formally in Mathematics and English. This trial morning provides an opportunity for the children to experience life at Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School and to get to know the children in their future class.

If a child is moving from another school they will be asked to bring examples of their current work in Mathematics, English and Reading. We will also contact the child’s school for a written report about their academic achievements and behaviour.
Each term the Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School sends home the ‘Bromsgrove Review,’ a publication which highlights the many exciting events and activities that the children have experienced throughout the three Bromsgrove Schools. The school also publishes ’The Bromsgrovian;’ an end of year magazine that all parents receive. Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School organise many events each term, to which parents are invited.
