Job overview

Role: Teaching Assistants: Foundation Stage

Part time – Term Time Only – Permanent

Hourly Salary (incl. Holiday Pay): Grade 2 (£8.07-£8.14) or Grade 4 (£8.92-£9.35)

Start date: September 2017

Heyford Park Free School, a two-form entry school for both primary and secondary students, opened in September 2013 and draws students from Upper Heyford, local villages and from Bicester. There are a lot of new houses being built locally and our numbers will grow with the new development: we currently have over 150 primary children and over 200 secondary students.

We aim to know every one of our students well as individuals, providing an environment that allows them to achieve what they are truly capable of by promoting both academic progress and a ‘can do’ attitude. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Heyford Park Free School at a relatively early stage of our growth and development. We are passionate about children’s learning and development, and look to help all to achieve to their full potential.

The next stage of our development is to open a Nursery for children aged three and four in September 2017. This will be on our specialisms campus, with its exciting facilities. It will be managed by our EYFS co-ordinator, who is one of our Reception teachers. This will be a teacher-led provision, and needs a strong team of teaching assistants.

Teaching Assistant – EYFS:

You will work with a Nursery Teacher and a Deputy Manager to deliver outstanding education and care for children aged 3+ in our purpose-built setting. During Nursery sessions, your work will be led and managed by the Teacher and Deputy Manager, however at other times, such as lunch time or after-session care, you may have the chance to lead other members of the team. Your primary role will be in Nursery although there may be times when you are asked to work elsewhere in the school, particularly in the Reception classes.

You will be:

  • able to engage with and inspire children
  • excited by the thought of starting a new project and will relish the challenges and opportunities this will offer
  • able to promote a caring, engaging and stimulating learning environment
  • enthusiastic, passionate, flexible and hard-working
  • an outstanding team player

You will be asked to deliver excellent outcomes and progress for all children.  In return we can offer an exciting opportunity to work with an experienced and forward-thinking team.  As a growing school we offer many opportunities for development and further promotion.

We have three posts on offer as follows:

A.

Grade   4

7.30am – 12.30pm

25  hours per week

You   will be the first person in the Nursery and be responsible for setting the   room up ready for learning, using planning from the teacher. You will then be a key worker for the   morning Nursery session and lead the supervision at lunchtime,

B.

Grade   4

11.30am – 5.50pm

30 hours per week

You will begin your session by supervising children eating their lunch, then be a key worker for the afternoon Nursery session under the direction of the class teacher and the deputy manager. You   will then lead the Wraparound provision from 3pm until 5pm, and get the room ready for the next morning after the children have gone home.

C.

Grade   2

3.00-5.30pm

12.5 hours per week

You will support the Wraparound sessions for Nursery children who stay on in the setting after the Nursery sessions have ended.

Heyford Park Free School is a small and inclusive all-through Free School that takes students from the age of 4 through to 19 and encourages them to flourish, recognise their strengths and identify their own aims and aspirations.

The school is located at the heart of Heyford Park in Oxfordshire – the site of a former RAF and US Air Force base – and reflects the strong community spirit we have here at Heyford Park.

It is our aim to know every one of our students well, providing an environment that not only allows them to achieve what they are truly capable of, but also equips them with excellent academic qualifications and a ‘can do’ attitude. We want out students to be able to create the right pathway for themselves while making a meaningful contribution to their communities.
