Job Description
The Nurture Teacher post is a permanent post that will work within a specialist nurture class and the wider school community, to meet the needs of children across the primary age range, who have a range of nurturing needs and require additional  targetted support, to ensure that they reach their learning potential.

As the successful post holder, you will work collaboratively with a range of internal and external staff, to provide planned and time limited early intervention, as well as establish positive engagement with families and carers to support children within their wider community. 
You will be able to demonstrate a range of experience of working with pupils who have social, emotional and behavioural needs, as well as evidence key personal attributes of care, compassion and excellent relationships.

The purpose of the job is:

•  To provide support to primary school pupils with social, emotional and wellbeing needs, within a specialist nurture class and the wider school community.

•  To assess, plan and monitor for children who require targetted approaches that support their well being.
 
•  To use and develop evidence based interventions that can support social, emotional and wellbeing needs within school.

•  To contribute to meeting the needs of children across the school using nurturing approaches to address the barriers to children fulfilling their potential.

•  To work collaboratively with a range of staff to support the wellbeing of children within school.

 

Requirements
You will be passionate about embracing change and helping others to understand the impact of how good management systems are designed around streamlined processes.

You will enjoy the responsibility of developing and hosting workshops where you will support the workshop to fully explore and identify the attributes and features of a proposed product needed to replace SWIFT. You should be able to provide examples of previous experience in areas such as group facilitation, as well as your ability to communicate clearly, provide positive influence, and mediate conflicting and competing demands within group work settings.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of successfully working with a variety of frontline staff, including system support staff, external suppliers, and managers. You will be confident communicating verbally, as well as within written reports and presentation formats.

During the procurement phase your skills will be in identifying whether the features and attributes of a variety of products meets our rigorous scoping requirements and how well each product candidate meets these requirements will be measured and tested. You should therefore be able to work methodically and manage complex information.

Following the procurement phase you will be responsible for developing the programmes of work for system configuration, process redesign, implementation and testing. You should therefore be able to demonstrate your ability to plan, organise and execute effectively, keeping to timescales and working well under pressure.

You will support and develop the detailed system training manuals and deliver the training sessions for all stakeholders, past experience in areas such as training others would therefore be prefereable.

Post implementation of the new product you will be responsible for the continual training, monitoring, troubleshooting and supporting quality assurance check activities to ensure the product is robust and fit for purpose.

North Inch Community Campus will provide a new 'all-through' nursery, primary and secondary school to replace St Columba's RC High School and St John's RC Nursery and Primary School on the current and extended St Columba's site.

The new school will be named St John's Academy and will have the following pupil capacities:

  • Nursery: 50 morning and 50 afternoon places
  • Primary: 418
  • Secondary: 650 

Community provision on site will comprise meeting rooms, community library, conference suite, art, design and craft rooms, lecture theatre, assembly hall with cinema-style projection facilities, sports halls, football pitch, dance studio, fitness suite, music rooms and recording studio all-weather sports pitch and drama studios. Wraparound and out-of-school care will also be provided. The campus will be operational Monday to Friday between 7am and 10pm and between 8am and 5pm at weekends.

The Campus Leader will be appointed from October 2009, shadowing the current Headteachers at St Columba's High School and St John's Primary School before taking up full leadership responsibilities for St John's Academy in January 2010.

The campus will be handed over to the Council in two stages; the first stage will be the secondary school on 29/03/2010 and the second the primary school on 31/10/2011.
