Occupational Therapist (OT)

The Moat School is a unique, independent secondary day school in London for children with dyslexia and associated SpLDs.

We are seeking to employ a new Occupational Therapist from 5th January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. If you have initiative, enthusiasm for learning, good educational qualifications and some experience in working with young people, we would like to meet you.

The Moat School operates its own salary scale, starting from £26k. The School provides all staff with the exclusive use of a wireless enabled laptop computer.

Responsibilities will include:

• To formally assess children on admission and      to provide reports for Annual Reviews
• To attend Annual Reviews and contribute to Individual      Curriculum Maps
• To      identify how physical, psychological or learning difficulties affect the      child’s functional skills, and to help remediate these effects or develop      compensatory approaches
• To keep accurate and detailed records of therapy      and assessments
• To liaise with class teachers and learning      support assistants regularly
• To carry      out a range of formal, standardised assessments on a regular basis for      target setting and progress monitoring purposes, and sharing these findings      internally and with parents
• To      present my assessment findings in formal occupational therapy reports for      wider distribution
• To work      as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising two speech and language      therapists, two counsellors, specialist teachers and a SENCo
• To plan      and carry out individual, paired and group interventions to facilitate      enhanced occupational performance in the child’s functional skills, to      promote performance, confidence and happiness
• To      communicate with staff regularly through recommending appropriate      accommodations or interventions designed to enhance the child’s potential      for learning
• To attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings      and other events as requested by the Head teacher
• To attend in school in-service training and      maintain own professional portfolio
• To provide relevant in-service training to      school staff and parents, via presentations, talks and career evenings on      topics related to the role of the occupational therapist and occupational      therapy
• To reflect on and evaluate training provided
• To maintain and develop the Occupational      Therapy service
• To maintain and review the Occupational      Therapy policy
• To undertake any duties as required
• To undertake duties as requested by the Head      teacher

Personal Specification

Qualifications: 

• Relevant      qualifications, HPC registration and enhanced DBS checks required
• HPC Registration
• Must be trained      and experienced in SI (Minimum module 1)

Experience:

It would be advantage if applicants have:

• Experience of working as part of a      multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of working with a paediatric      caseload in a school setting
• Experience of working with sensory      integration difficulties
