Job overview

Preferably to work 5 days per week but flexibility for the right candidate

Due to additional investment and development of existing therapy services, we are looking for innovative therapists to join the existing OT team to support the ongoing delivery of services within the school and residential settings. The school has recently completed significant investment in a new OT facility and sensory integration clinic. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team onsite which includes Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language, Psychologists and the Pastoral Care Team, along with highly skilled teaching staff, residential carers and support staff.

We are also developing a complete new approach to delivering the curriculum, so the successful candidate needs to be committed to integrating occupational skills into the daily curriculum, working alongside teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals.

We seek someone who can generate enthusiasm and develop the potential of pupils who may have experienced frustration and trauma during early years of their lives and education. 80% of the pupils have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition plus other co-morbid diagnoses, so it is important that the successful candidate has experience with this client group. The majority of pupils are verbal and there is a wide range of cognitive and functional ability. Many experience challenges due to sensory integration, trauma or attachment issues; therefore, experience in or a willingness to develop knowledge in this area will be required.

In return, we offer excellent support from colleagues and staff, commitment to clinical supervision and CPD, access to internal and external training and opportunities for multidisciplinary and multi-agency working. You must be HCPC registered and have your own professional insurance.

For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit, please contact Mrs. Caro Atkinson, Occupational Therapist, or Mrs. Nicky Tolley, Head of Therapy Services.

For further information and application details please see the school’s website www.wkrs.co.uk

Closing date: Friday, 27th April 2018.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to rigorous recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS clearance.
