Inspire their remarkable with us

Newlands Academy is a special school for students who have social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of our students have had to overcome significant difficulties in their lives and have struggled to succeed in other educational establishments; in some cases, they have been regarded as unteachable.

When they come to Newlands they are offered a fresh start and the opportunity to develop as young people. Our mission is to use our detailed understanding of every child’s personalised needs so that we can best equip them with the skills and values to ensure a successful transition to adult life.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and dedicated Off-site Tutor to deliver high quality off-site teaching as part of a team working directly with children and young people with SEMH.  You will deliver high quality teaching in order to support pupils reintegrating into Newlands Academy.  As part of our wider mission, you will promote and adhere to the Trust’s values to be unusually brave, discover what’s possible, push the limits and be big-hearted.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education and will have experience of working with children in an SEMH school environment, with knowledge of specific learning difficulties and a variety of strategies to support children.

We passionately believe that every child can discover their own remarkable life. It’s what motivates us around here. We know this vision requires something extra. Which is why at AET, you’ll find more. More opportunities, so you can forge your own path. More care and support, so you can prioritise what matters most. More purpose, for you and for the children we’re inspiring.

We offer:

  • More training and development, so you can get better at what you do - Varied and stretching continuous professional development opportunities.
  • More support for you and your loved ones - A health cash plan, employee loans and savings scheme, discounted gym membership and employee assistance programme.
  • More technology so you can make more impact - G Suite for Education embedded throughout. Collaborative cloud technology gives you access to the latest tools, when and where it suits you. More tech enabled classrooms mean less time spent on admin.
  • More reward - A generous and flexible Local Government Pension scheme for support staff.
  • More possibilities - To inspire children to find their remarkable.

This is a fixed term position for 1 year in the first instance.
