Job overview

You will earn while you learn the role of an Office Administrator in a school. You will be based in the school office as part of the administration team and assist pupils, teachers and other staff with administrative activities.

Overall Objectives of the Post:
To work as part of the School Administration Team providing reception and administrative support to the school. This will include undertaking a selection of duties which are highlighted below.

Key Tasks of the Post:
Provision of general clerical support relating to the service area.

1. To provide administrative support to the school administration team.

You will:

  • Deal with incoming and outgoing post
  • Deal with incoming and outgoing telephone calls
  • Scan documents and save to the shared area
  • Control and reorder office stationary and supplies
  • Undertake photocopying as and when required
  • Set up and maintain a filing system for student files
  • Set up rooms and deal with hospitality arrangements for meetings
  • Carry out administration duties using Microsoft Office
  • Produce book and address labels

2. You will be an effective team member.

You will:

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Use your initiative and be flexible in your approach to work

3. You will be responsible for undertaking the required learning to achieve the apprenticeship framework in a chosen discipline e.g. Business Administration.

You will:

  • Provide support in specialist duties associated with this post.

Important Other Information
Prior to interview you are required to complete online initial assessments in Maths, English & ICT. These are called BKSB. If you’re shortlisted please print out the results and take them with you to the interview. You’ll receive an email from NST Head Office with instructions.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
