About Harris Primary Academy Haling Park

Harris Primary Academy Haling Park is a growing academy that opened in September 2014 to meet the demand from local families for new, high-quality places in South Croydon, and now educates children from Reception to Year 4. We are judged Outstanding by Ofsted, and hold a belief that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at primary school. Here at Haling Park we aim to provide a safe and happy environment for our children, where they can thrive and enjoy their learning. We are all ‘learning to be the best we can be’ and this ethos is underpinned by our Golden Rules and Values: Citizenship, Friendship, Kindness, Responsibility, Respect, and Resilience.

Our Ethos:

Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the knowledge and social skills necessary to succeed.

Each child will be taught in the way that suits them best and we will step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve additional support if they are finding something difficult and for others it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested.

Our Academy will be relaxed and comfortable but pupils will know that good behaviour is expected of them. They will be frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working and well-behaved.

Why work at Harris Primary Academy Haling Park?

At Haling Park you would be working as part of a very supportive team. In addition to the benefits outlined, we offer excellent professional development opportunities provided by Harris Federation. We would also offer:

  • An ambitious, successful and vibrant place to work;
  • Children who are bright, confident and eager to learn;
  • A supportive working culture that focuses on positive learning behaviour and high expectations for all children;
  • A senior leadership team that is highly committed to developing others.

About Harris Primary Academy Haling Park

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Haling Park opened in September 2014 to meet the demand from local families for high-quality places in South Croydon. Our Academy is part of a Federation of Academies and Free Schools with an established track record in London. We are also one of a community of Croydon schools run by the Harris Federation that works closely together.

As a growing academy, year on year, we are able to hand-pick new teachers and support staff. In September 2016, we will welcome our next 60 Reception children and will have up to 180 children in our lovely building, with classes from Reception to year 2.

Academy ethos

Our aim is to make sure that, from the first day of their education, our pupils have a truly happy experience of school. This means teaching them to become confident learners and nurturing each child’s personality and character.

Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school is creative and there is plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder.

Each child is taught in the way that suits them best and we step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested.

Our school is relaxed and comfortable but pupils know that good behaviour is expected of them and are taught to respect each other and their teachers. They are frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working and well-behaved.

Our school is friendly and welcoming and we always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend.
