Outwood Academy Normanby are seeking to appoint a committed individual to work as part of a dedicated team of staff. We are seeking someone who can effectively support selected students through individually tailored programmes of One to One tuition. 

Outwood Academy Normanby is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring One to One Tutor with a real passion for Science. We offer an exciting opportunity to join our Science department which is a young, enthusiastic, supportive team.   

An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. We are keen to instil a love of learning within our students and strive for constant improvement. 

With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding. 

You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.

We welcome applications from people who:

  • hold qualified teacher status and have experience teaching at KS4
  • have retired from mainstream Science teaching but would like to continue working with GCSE students on a one to one/small group basis
  • are looking to return to teaching Science 
  • hold an AS/A-level Science 
  • are able to demonstrate that they can work with individual students to progress their learning in Science
  • have experience as a Science GCSE examiner (any exam boards, but preferably for AQA); or
  • have subject specific knowledge of Science at Key stage 4 and the GCSE exam requirements

Rate of pay:

  • £32.61 per hour - those with Qualified Teacher Status
  • £23.49 per hour - those with a relevant degree but no Qualified Teacher Status
  • £15.79 per hour - those with no degree or Qualified Teacher Status
