Whickham School wishes to appoint one to one tutors with expertise in Geography to continue in the role out of our successful tutoring programme.
We have a proven system that identifies the needs of pupils and we will support you to help pupils’ make rapid improvements. We will provide training and support before you work with our pupils and you will be guided by subject teachers throughout the course of tutoring.
The ideal candidate(s) will have the ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of each learner and must have good core subject knowledge. You must be open minded / non-judgemental and have the ability to build a rapport quickly in order to achieve the best results.
Subject specific knowledge of your subject at KS4.
A suitable qualification to level 4 or above.
You must be able to transport yourself to the school or the pupil’s home.
Hold qualified teacher status, or are a qualified HE or FE teacher.
A track record of effective teaching.
Experience of tutoring.
The ability to work electronically using conferencing software.
This role would be particularly suited to those who wish to have a degree of flexibility in their working arrangements. Currently tutoring takes place over MS Teams to pupils at home during the evening or weekends. Parents will be expected to be at home during tutoring times. We will follow government Covid-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of all parties, but it could be that in time, tutoring takes place on school premises or in pupils' homes (parents will be present). We would ask that you are open and flexible to that.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake enhanced DBS checks.
Salary: £25/30 per hour for those with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent or £15 ph for non QTS.
KS4 tuition is paid at £30 per hour
KS3 tuition is paid at £25 per hour
