VACANCY FOR OUTDOOR LEARNING CO-ORDINATOR

Grade 4 Pt 23-31 (£27,741 to £34,728 pro-rata’d)

Uffculme School is looking to appoint an Outdoor Learning Co-ordinator, with a proven track

record of organising and leading outdoor learning experiences to join us as soon as possible.

Uffculme School offers co-education for children and young people of the ages 3 to 19 years from all parts of the city. Our students represent the wide cultural mix that makes up the general population of Birmingham.

We are a successful school with a long and proven track record of providing high quality education for young people with a primary diagnosis of ASD. The school has grown significantly over the last seven years and we

currently cater for over 250 children over three sites.

Over the past three years, we have developed a Forest School provision that has become a critical part of the school curriculum. Building on this success, we would like to extend the learning opportunities for students of

all ages across the sites.

The School is keen to maximise the use of local assets including Cannon Hill Park, Highbury Park, local allotments, Botanicals Gardens, the Lickey Hills, as well as venturing further afield.

We recognise that many of our students have missed out on outdoor learning opportunities since the start of the pandemic. In addition to students’ wellbeing, this has had a noticeable effect on their social skills, confidence, imagination and ability to take risk safely.

We require a candidate who has:

  • Proven experience of working with children to deliver aspects of outdoor education.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with Autism
  • Experience working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience working with relevant regulatory bodies and using appropriate policies and processes.
  • Proven experience of planning and organising trips.
  • Involvement in managing and growing outdoor education programmes.
  • Experience of teaching or training in an outdoor setting at a range of ages and levels.
  • Leadership experience of groups in an outdoor setting in both the UK and abroad.
  • Experience of working with the D of E award at both training and assessor levels.

If you have the skills and experience, are a confident communicator, and you are someone who will work collaboratively with staff across our sites as well as other stakeholders and would like to apply, please familiarise yourself with the job description and person specification.

An application pack can be downloaded from the school website: www.uffculme.org.uk.

Your completed application form should be emailed to HR@uffculme.bham.sch.uk, or sent by post for the attention of Vanessa Lothian, PA to Headteacher. If you would like to visit us prior to submitting your application, or have a discussion about the role, please contact the school.

The closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 3 November 2021. Interviews will be held during week commencing 15 November 2021.

Please note that prior to the interview date, we will request references for all candidates shortlisted for interview. With this in mind please detail the name and contact details of your referees on your application form and ensure that you have informed your referees that a reference may be requested by the school prior to interview, therefore a prompt response would be much appreciated.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

The school is totally committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects the same from its employees.
