Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive Prep School, based in Waltham Forest. The school is looking to add an Outdoor Learning Lead to their progressive and supportive prepratory school ideally starting in September 2021.

The role will include coordinating T&L and the delivery of Outdoor Learning. You will support the Head to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams. The Lead Teacher will primarily support with curriculum and scheme of work review, ensuring that learners are engaged by the subject syllabus. You may also take lead on exciting provision methods such as: managing intervention groups and extended revision classes.

“The Prep School is seeking a Forest Schools qualified and enthusiastic leader for our outdoor learning provision across the 4-11 age range. The role will require the successful candidate to create exciting, educational and inspirational content for 4-7-year olds in the Forest Schools programme and guide staff in their delivery of outdoor curriculum content.

You will need to be a confident and imaginative practitioner outside of the classroom, committed to the role, able to demonstrate a clear ambition and enthusiasm for outdoor learning and Forest Schools, and be willing to be fully involved in the life of the Prep School. You will also need to be well-read in stories appropriate for use in the outdoor area along with ability to create role-play, drama and bushcraft activities.

Essential skills include the direction, coaching and development of the Forest Schools programme, a Forest School qualification at least Level 3 and, if possible, an in-date Outdoor First Aid qualification. The successful applicant needs to be able to work in almost all weathers and have experience with the full primary age range from Reception to Year 6. Well-developed organisational skills are expected, and an understanding that the work of the Outdoor Learning Lead in the Preparatory School is not limited to the hours of the school day.”

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Outdoor Learning / Education Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Outdoor Learning pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education.
