We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Outreach Mentor to work with a committed team of professionals at New River College Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). The role will involve working in mainstream schools to help raise standards around behaviour and learning for pupils. The emphasis will be in mainstream secondary schools but work in the PRU and primary schools may also be required.
New River College comprises of three pupil referral units in Islington (primary, secondary and medical), for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We teach children and young people aged five to sixteen years old who have been permanently excluded or participate in our preventative programmes to address their behaviour, and children and young people with complex SEBD or medical needs. We also provide outreach support to build capacity in mainstream schools to manage children and young people with SEMH.
The Outreach Learning Mentor role involves pupil assessment, providing advice and strategies to build the capacity of mainstream schools to manage pupils with SEMH and supporting pupils returning to mainstream schools after attending New River College.
This is a good opportunity for someone with a passion and commitment for improving outcomes for children and young people. It would suit a skilled and experienced educational practitioner who is looking for a challenge and an opportunity to enhance their career.
