Job overview

Are you passionate about helping young people stay connected to their education and reach their full potential? NESSSS is seeking a proactive, skilled, and compassionate Outreach Worker to join our highly regarded outreach team.

This frontline role is all about early intervention, relationship-building, and supporting children at risk of permanent exclusion. You’ll work directly with pupils in mainstream schools across the area, providing one-to-one and small group mentoring, running bespoke projects, and delivering targeted support to help pupils remain in school and re-engage with learning. Alongside your outreach work, you’ll also support students in our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), ensuring continuity of care and consistency across settings.

You’ll collaborate closely with families, school staff, and external agencies, using a solution-focused approach to identify barriers and put the right support in place. Our outreach team supports around 200 pupils each year, with over 90% successfully remaining in their mainstream school — a key part of our school’s unique offer and a genuine point of pride.

If you’re resilient, creative, and ready to make a real difference to the lives of young people, we’d love to hear from you.
