The Co-operative Academy of Leeds is a popular and genuinely comprehensive 11-18 school located just outside the city centre of Leeds, with easy access from major motorways and good transport links.

The Academy is part of the Co-operative Academies Trust, which currently comprises six secondary Academies in Leeds, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent and four primary Academies based in Leeds, although there are plans for expansion across both phases in the coming months.

Since our last Ofsted inspection, when the Academy was judged to Require Improvement, we have already made significant advances in the quality of teaching and learning and the progress of our students is rapidly improving. We are fully committed to working towards our ambition of becoming a Good and then Outstanding Academy and wish to welcome an inspiring and driven colleague who will share this goal.

We are keen to build on the success so far and we are seeking to appoint a Paraprofessional to support our learners in Humanities.

This role may be of interest to those seeking to gain experience in a school prior to applying for a career in teaching although this is not essential.

The successful candidate can expect:

  • Outstanding professional support
  • Opportunities for career development
  • An Academy with a burgeoning reputation for improvement
  • The support of a forward-looking and values-driven Academies Trust
  • A vibrant and dynamic student body which deserves the very best in teaching and support

You will be joining us at our most exciting time and will play a substantial role in building on our vision for continued future success.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process. The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants are to apply by obtaining all application details from our website by following the link: http://www.cal.coop/about/vacancies

Completed application forms should be sent to recruitment@cal.coop

Closing date: 12.00 p.m. Friday 20th October.

Co-op Academy Leeds is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, Nov 2022) and on the back of our recent successes we’re fully committed to getting even better.

Here at Co-op Academy Leeds, we aim to ensure everyone has the opportunity to flourish, both academically and socially.  We expect students and staff to have the courage to aim high, the commitment to persevere – even when the going gets tough – and the mindset which will allow them to grow.

Teaching and learning sit right at the heart of everything we do – nothing else matters if the learning culture is not good enough.  We focus relentlessly on ensuring staff receive regular, relevant and useful professional development, much of which is provided and delivered by our in-house Teaching & Learning Team.  Anyone who joins us is expected to contribute to this sharing culture.

We have high expectations – and unstinting moral values.  As an integral part of Co-op Academies Trust, we espouse the core Co-op values (Self-help, Self-responsibility, Solidarity, Democracy, Equity and Equality) and have adopted the 4 Ways of Being Co-op: Be yourself, always; Do what matters most; Show you care; Succeed together.

We also enjoy the significant support of the Trust and the Sponsor, which brings with it a range of opportunities and benefits, alongside a less “formal” package of colleagues working together to look after their well-being and forge stronger relationships.

We really are all about providing the best we can for everyone – making sure our students leave here and move on to better things, whatever their starting points and backgrounds.
