Job overview

Weekly Hours: 6.5

[Most preferred day of work is Friday – but any day of the week will be considered]

In order to support a member of our fantastic teaching team to become part time, the Headteacher and Governors wish to appoint an exceptional class teacher to teach at our school – for one day each week – to create a job share.

Initially the job share that would be created would teach in Year 4 – however, it is vital that applicants are able to work in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 (to provide the school with the flexibility to deploy its teaching staff according to their strengths and the specific needs of the children in each cohort). Furthermore, while it is preferable for the successful candidate to work at our school on a Friday, the school is flexible on this – and requests that applicants state which days of the week they are available to work (on a 0.2 basis) in their application.

We are looking for someone who has:

- excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management skills;

- high expectations of all pupils and is committed to creating a stimulating classroom environment;

- the ability to enthuse children to learn and understands what is required to secure outstanding progress;

- a passion for education and is able to demonstrate consistently good and outstanding classroom practise;

- excellent communication skills at all levels (and is able to deploy support staff effectively);

- the ability to inspire, motivate and work effectively in a team – particularly as part of a job-share;

- great creativity and knows how to support children to become independent, persevere with challenges and present their work to a high standard;

- a strong understanding of how to support children to become confident readers (with a secure grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation) and how to teach mathematics in a mastery context; and

- the ability to support children, of all abilities, through inclusive practice;

- a strong understanding of the responsibilities of subject leadership (with a view to sharing the Subject Leadership role for PE across the school).
