Job overview

We wish to appoint an outstanding Part-Time (0.5 to 0.7) Teacher of Psychology (to cover maternity leave) who can communicate their passion for this subject at A level. A genuine enthusiasm for working with young people in a cohesive, friendly and happy community is absolutely vital, as is a willingness to organise outings, field-trips and other co-curricular activities.  The ability to teach another subject would be an advantage.

St Gabriel’s is an independent forward thinking day school (GSA/IAPS) with traditional values.  St Gabriel's, founded in 1929, is for girls aged 6 months to 18 years and boys aged 6 months to 11 years.  Our school is located in the spectacular setting of Sandleford Priory and occupies a beautiful Grade 1 listed building within 54 acres of Capability Brown parkland, which provides a gracious setting in which to work.

St Gabriel’s pupils thrive through strong, effective pastoral support; our broad curriculum and range of activities afford each pupil the opportunity to enjoy success according to their particular talents. St Gabriel’s is no ordinary school; parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils.

We value our staff and, as such, you can expect to work in a friendly, supportive environment and enjoy the benefits of ongoing professional development.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Founded in 1929, St Gabriel’s is a thriving co-educational independent day school for children aged 6 months to 18 years. The key to our success is providing a balanced and inspiring education within a community based on mutual respect and collaboration, creating an environment where pupils are confident, engaged and happy.

While justifiably proud of our pupils’ academic results, we see education as being so much more than numbers and grades; we believe strongly in an all-round education and are eager for our pupils to enjoy their educational journey, rather than having their heads down as the world passes them by.

In the last decade, we have successfully established the St Gabriel’s Nursery and extended the co-educational offering of our Junior School to the Senior School. The Sixth Form, alongside Year 9, will accept boys from September 2024 with St Gabriel’s becoming fully co-educational in September 2026.

Situated in Sandleford Priory, which dates back to the early Middle Ages, St Gabriel’s is set in a beautiful Grade 1 listed building within Capability Brown parkland, which provides a gracious setting in which to work.
