If you are a physically fit and motivated Boatman, we would like to hear from you.

This new post has arisen as part of our commitment to create a new sports and physical activity strategy to maximise the return from the substantial investment in our new sports facilities and the developments with Gloucester Boat House.

Under the direction of the Head of Rowing, as Boatman you will maintain and transport the boats and equipment of College’s Boat Club fleet, and assist with the smooth running of events both, at Cheltenham Ladies’ College and elsewhere. Our ambition is for sport and physical activity programmes to have a life-long impact on our girls and it is an exciting time to join.

This may suit a retiree or an individual that is willing and able to work irregular hours. You will have experience of boat rigging and maintenance and possess a full, clean driving licence. If you do not have a mini-bus and tow trailer licence, we can provide full training. The schedule of anticipated commitments will be discussed at interview.

In return, we not only offer a stimulating work environment but benefits such as Sports Centre Membership.

"Girls enrolling in College are highly likely to see in the turn of the next century, living lives of unprecedented longevity. Their world will be full of promise, choice and possibility on a scale that has not been true for any generation of women that has preceded them.

“Leading this energetic, talented and caring community of staff and pupils is an extraordinary privilege. We have a unique and inspiring pioneering heritage which we cherish, and we have a very exciting future. We would love you to be a part of it.”

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal

College first opened its doors in February 1854 with the purpose of providing girls with a thorough academic education. We have remained committed to that pioneering goal, while adapting to a complex and changing world. Today we are one of the largest school communities of boarding and day girls in Europe, allowing us to provide a rich holistic curriculum. Approximately 850 pupils from 40 countries across the world benefit from the knowledge and expertise gained over the last 160 years of putting girls first.

Our motivated and able pupils genuinely want to learn, and consistently achieve results at the very highest level in GCSE, A Level, Pre-U and IB examinations. For the teachers who can nurture such achievement, we offer excellent resources, professional support and personal development. In addition, we have a dedicated team that manages evening and weekend boarding duties, so you can focus on what you do best: inspiring your classes.

You can also look forward to a wonderful working environment right at the heart of Cheltenham. Described as the cultural centre of the Cotswolds, this elegant and thriving town offers excellent transport links to the South West or Midlands, with the M5 in easy reach. London can be reached in two hours, and Cheltenham’s mainline rail station provides rapid and frequent connections with the rest of the UK.

We believe that there are few better places to live and work – and no better setting within which ambitious teachers can make a positive impact on their pupils’ lives.
