Framlingham College is a co-educational boarding and day school which comprises of the Senior School in Framlingham and the Prep School in Brandeston. The catering department spans both sites to provide meals to over 700 boarding and day pupils. The Catering team create their own balanced healthy and nutritious menus, all of which are freshly prepared on site in our well-equipped kitchens.
We are looking for a reliable, efficient, and organised part time Chef de Partie. The hours are more sociable than industry standard and shifts generally start at 11:00 and finish at 19:30 except for College functions. There are no split shifts and rotas are done in advance to ensure staff can retain a good life/work balance. Due to the nature of a boarding school, the department works across seven days. During term time Chefs prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner and cater for events such as Boarding House Dinners. During non-term time the team prepare meals for residential lettings and sporting events such as tennis tournaments and rugby fixtures.
Job Purpose:
To assist in the cooking and preparation of food, to College standards and supporting the Head Chef and the catering team in the running of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
This is not an exhaustive list and the post holder will be expected to show flexibility and assist with other tasks of a similar nature. The post holder will be expected to work at Framlingham Prep as well as Framlingham College as necessary.
• Kitchen production - 300 Breakfasts/600 lunches/300 Suppers.
• To be the senior chef on duty for breakfast & supper on occasion.
• To work on a rotation basis between different departments within the kitchen.
• To work as part of a team of six chefs.
• Oversee service counters to ensure they are fully stocked and well presented.
• Batch cook during service times to insure the quality and freshness.

The post is predominantly based at the Senior School in Framlingham but may occasionally be asked to work at the Prep School in Brandeston as necessary. The Chefs at both sites work to the direction of the Head Chef. This is a part time role working an average 24 hours a week, on a 3-day rolling rota over 45 weeks of the year. The post attracts a salary of £12,722 (plus shift allowance), based on an hourly rate of £11.22 (subject to September pay award).
