Job overview

Founded in 2015, Le Régent International School is a rapidly growing boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Just over 200 students from Switzerland and around the world are educated in a modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in Crans-Montana.

Le Régent is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring part-time English teacher from January 2022.  Although the post is part-time (probably 40%) and theoretically temporary, it may well develop into more for the right candidate, especially one able to offer a second teaching subject.

Duties will principally involve teaching grade 8 and 9 (UK years 9 and 10) “mainstream” English (rather than EAL), preparing students for IGCSEs and ultimately the IB diploma.

On- or off-campus accommodation may be available.

We will not hesitate to appoint the right candidate ahead of the closing date.

WORK PERMITS

Obtaining work permits for non-EU candidates can be a difficult procedure and we may be obliged to appoint a candidate with an EU passport or a Swiss work permit.

SAFEGUARDING

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students, which includes ensuring that we adopt safe recruitment and selection procedures that prevent unsuitable persons from gaining access to children. The successful applicant is expected to undertake an enhanced criminal record check - this is a condition of employment.

About Le Regent International School

Le Régent International School is a 4-18 independent co-educational boarding and day school.  Founded in 2015, it is the youngest and the most modern international boarding school in Switzerland. Le Régent is a  dynamic and growing IB World School. We provide a multilingual and multicultural educational environment to over 250 students from 45 countries.

The school is committed to holistic educational principles, combining demanding academic curricula with extensive sporting, arts and public-speaking programmes, leading to IGCSEs in Grade 10 and the International Baccalaureate (or the Régent Graduation Diploma) in IB2. Language options are particularly strong and many students speak at least two languages fluently. Le Régent International School is an official examination centre for the IB Diploma Programme, SATs, IELTS and Edexcel IGCSEs.

Located in Crans-Montana in the Valais canton, Le Régent’s Outdoor Education programme comprising frequent expeditions, wild camping, ski-touring and cross-country skiing, takes full advantage of its stunning location to provide students with the personal skills and understanding of the environment that will serve them well in the future.

Our boarding school in the sunny Swiss canton of Valais, is the ideal place for students to become all they can be amongst inspiring students and educators in a family-like atmosphere.

At the same time, Le Régent is proud of its commitment to contemporary pedagogy. It is an Apple Distinguished school and a large proportion of its faculty are accomplished and intelligent users of technology inside and outside the classroom. An accredited IB school, Le Régent paves the way to the most promising universities in the world while respecting each student’s specific interests and concentrating on their strengths.

Who students are today is of great importance to us. However, who they want to become and how they want to shape the world of tomorrow is even more important.
