Required from September 2021

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who will convey their love of language and literature to pupils of all ages and ability. They will be willing to make a full contribution to the teaching and development of the teaching and learning of English at the school. They will be expected to deliver exciting and varied lessons which engage pupils and encourage them to develop their skills and understanding of the subject. The ideal candidate should show initiative and confidence with the subject, aiming to stretch our able pupils whilst also having the flexibility to support our less able pupils. English is taught in mixed ability groups at KS3 and so lessons should be differentiated to accommodate all pupil needs. At Gateways, we celebrate the preeminence of reading as an essential skill and pleasure. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm for reading and inspire our pupils to read widely.

The successful candidate will be:-

• Able to teach KS3 English, GCSE English Language and English Literature and to be able to offer A Level English Literature

• willing to respond to the busy and caring atmosphere within school.

• expected to promote the excellent academic results of this department.
