The successful candidate will have a high standard of teaching and learning and have the ability to think creatively and strategically. They will be responsible for delivering Music across Key Stage 3 and a small group at Key Stage 4.
Excellent curriculum knowledge is essential and the ability to develop the department to improve music uptake at KS4 will be vital. This will require knowledge and understanding of the new RSL specification for performance and technology pathways. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Music at KS3 and to promote and develop interest at KS4 as well as continuing to develop the equipment levels of the department ready to move into the upcoming new music facility. They must possess the ability to enthuse and inspire students by sharing their passion for Music. They should be accomplished musicians with solid knowledge of music technology, able to support performances and the learning within the subject. It is envisaged that the post will involve working with our feeder Primary schools and Peripatetic teachers to raise the profile and increase the numbers of students learning instruments. This post would suit an experienced teacher of Music or a NQT.

There are also opportunities to work closely with the Drama department in supporting yearly productions for Sidmouth Youth Theatre often involving 100 students both on stage and behind the scenes.
This is a 0.8FTE post starting in September 2019.
