Job overview

These are exciting times for the ICT team at The Howard Partnership Trust. We have a new ICT strategy which gives a clear direction of travel for the next five years. To enable us to deliver an ICT service to be proud of, we are looking for ICT Engineers to be based within our schools.

Enterprise grade technology, practices and frameworks are being introduced as we change to a shared services model with a centralised Infrastructure Team and local support teams for our schools. Two data centres are being created as we standardise our offering across our schools (currently nine and growing) and embrace cloud technology, particularly Microsoft Office 365.

To be successful you will need to be enthusiastic and pro-active in order to help transform our service. Our Engineers act as both 1st and 2nd line contact for the ICT provision in schools.  It is a highly varied role and ranges from ensuring all equipment is in good working order to maintaining asset registers and identifying health and safety issues. Good knowledge of end user devices and basic knowledge of networking would be beneficial.  We are looking for people with potential who will quickly grow into the role.

Reporting to and working with the ICT Support Team Leader you will also work closely with other fellow Support Engineers and the Infrastructure team to centralise our ICT infrastructure, migrating schools into the new single Trust domain and implementing ICT in new school builds, including a new building for our lead school with approximately 2,000 student capacity.

This role offers the opportunity of career progression, with a forward-thinking Academy Trust.  This role will require the post holder to travel between the member organisations of The Howard Partnership Trust across Surrey if required (mileage allowance).

THPT offer:

  • An opportunity to be part of a dynamic and developing organisation,
  • part-time and flexible working options are available,
  • excellent benefit package to include Cycle to Work, Sainsbury’s Loyalty Discount and access to discount schemes,
  • local Government Pension Scheme,
  • rewards and Benefits Scheme that includes Loyalty and Service Awards.

To apply:

To be considered for this role you must complete the online application and include a brief response to some technical questions (attached). These questions will also form the basis of your technical interview. In addition, the nature of this employment requires that we ask for more information than other sectors to ensure safeguarding. As such, the application process may take longer than for other roles you may be considering but we can assure you that every eligible application will be respected.

Closing date: Sunday 16 December 2018.

Interviews may be held prior to the closing date by mutual agreement, early applications are encouraged.

The Howard Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
