Job overview

The School is looking to appoint a Pastoral & Cover Supervisor to start as soon as practicable. This role will join the pastoral team led by the Deputy Head (Pastoral) and will play an important part in ensuring consistency of provision to pupils when timetabled staff are absent alongside supporting pastoral & co curricular activities.

The successful candidate must be competent in working with a variety of young people (predominantly 11 - 18 age range) either inside or outside the classroom and/or in groups or one to one. The role requires a flexible and adaptable individual who is willing to undertake varied tasks and requests for support, that will change weekly dependent on the needs of the school. They will use their breadth of skills to support the school in a

variety of ways such as supporting subject areas through covering lessons; supporting pupils with pastoral needs one to one; covering in Boarding Houses and supporting school trips, excursions and the wider co curricular programme.

This full time, term time only role requires an organised, flexible individual who thrives on establishing positive professional relationships with young people both inside and outside the classroom.

Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 900 pupils on the school roll. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The Senior School teaches pupils between the ages of 11-18. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 3 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 35 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.
