Job Summary and Duties

As a new role to our School, the role of Pastoral Coordinator will support the leadership team to establish effective strategies in all areas of pastoral care. Developing and implementing long term behaviour plans, the position will assist and guide staff to support students to overcome barriers to learning and maximise their opportunities. We are therefore ideally looking for someone with previous experience in a similar capacity. 

The role is offered on a permanent basis working 40 hours per week, term time only.

In brief, the position of Pastoral Co-Ordinator will include:

  • Monitoring behaviour, emotional and social issues within all year groups, making positive interventions
  • Supporting students responding to significant behavioural events
  • Identifying personal issues that may be affecting student performance
  • Participating in the review, development and management of all activities relating to the pastoral function in the school
  • Liaising with the Senior Management Team and Therapy team on behavioural analysis and interventions
  • Having a visible presence at school and promoting good behaviour, particularly involved in meeting and greeting pupils at the start of the day, during after school duties, breaks and lunches

Key Skills Required

  • Ideally educated to degree level, with pastoral management experience in a care setting or within special educational needs (SEN)
  • Previous experience of driving and advising on best practice in relation to positive behaviour support
  • Able to build relationships, mediate, negotiate and problem solve
  • Confident dealing with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
