Headington is a vibrant and welcoming school set in 23 acres close to Oxford city centre. In an environment where individuals come first, Headington is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, pastoral support and an impressive range of extra-curricular opportunities.

We have an exciting opportunity to take on a key pastoral leadership role within our Middle School, with pastoral responsibility for the 400 pupils in Years 9-11. We are looking to appoint an experienced, outgoing, enthusiastic and caring individual capable of working with and leading a dedicated team of staff delivering high quality pastoral care for our diverse mix of pupils. The Pastoral Director also acts as one of the team of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.

The Pastoral Director of Middle School will be responsible for the delivery of a clear vision and strategy for the pastoral leadership of the Middle School, managing the day-to-day running of the section, and promoting a caring and supportive environment for our pupils, both day pupils and boarders. The Pastoral Director role is people facing and much of the holder’s time will be spent dealing with people: pupils, parents, staff and external bodies.

The Pastoral Director will work closely alongside the Academic Director of Middle School to ensure coordination of pastoral and academic support through the Middle School team. The Pastoral Director will be a member of the Senior Management Group and will report directly to the Deputy Head Pastoral.

Applicants will also be required to teach 0.5 of a timetable and any teaching discipline will be considered.
