JOB PURPOSE:

The Hammond is looking for a College Pastoral Leader to manage and deliver pastoral support to students in the college (Years 12, 13, 14), leading accommodation support for students and PSHE RSE curriculum to the whole school (Y7-11) and college. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children to help them succeed. Experience of working with young people and a keenness to learn or adapt to new systems and technology are desirable. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help manage and deliver pastoral support to college students

• To investigate reported incidents of inappropriate behaviour

• To be a first response for everyday student concerns and to communicate to parents

• Establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model

• To support positive behaviour at breaks and lunchtimes, around the school site, developing positive working relationships with students

• Liaison with the Pastoral Team to arrange and provide support for students

• Liaison with the Boarding Team, host families and other accommodation options to arrange and support for students

• Leading discussions with prospective and current students are regards accommodation options, and supporting them throughout the process

• Provide information and advice to enable students to make choices about their own behaviour

• To monitor the behaviour of identified students and provide information and advice to support them in making good choices about their behaviour

• Challenge and motivate students, promote and reinforce self-esteem

• To work with students to encourage appropriate responses to everyday situations

• To monitor and record the behaviours of students and work with the pastoral team to improve pupil engagement and behaviour

• Monitor and evaluate student responses and progress against action plans through observation and planned recording

• Provide feedback to students in relation to behaviour, achievement, progress, attendance etc.

THE SCHOOL:

The Hammond is an independent, specialist performing arts school situated in pleasant grounds just outside the city of Chester. The school is dived into three sections:

• School (11-16 years): where children follow specialist vocational courses in either dance, drama or music, taught alongside a full academic programme culminating in GCSE examinations. 

• College (16 Years+): Students are offered Trinity College, London’s three-year National Diplomas in Dance and Musical Theatre. We also offer a two-year BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Performing Arts (acting). College courses are taught alongside optional A Levels.

• BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre & Performance: Run in conjunction with the University of Chester, this course prepares graduates for the musical theatre industry at a professional level.
