We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools and one primary school with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

We are looking for a full-time Pastoral Support Officer to support students with personal, social, developmental and behavioural problems to help the identify and realise their full potential both inside and outside school.


Main Duties

 ·       Supporting the Head of Year and senior leadership team

·       Support, in liaison with SENCo, Senior Staff and Tutors, students with personal, social, developmental and behaviour problems.

·       Develop and maintain positive relationships with students needing support.

·       Attend appropriate meetings to discuss options for levels of Pastoral support with Parents, and Senior Staff

·       Mentor students on a 1-1 basis.

·       Support break and lunch time duties.

·       Support and develop the Refocus Centre.

·       Liaise with external agencies regarding student transfers.

·       Liaise with parents and external agencies to arrange meetings.

·       Communicate effectively with parents and staff

·       Attend relevant meetings as required.

·       Undertake training related to the post for performance development.

·       Collation of behaviour reports, strategies and plans.

·       Create, maintain and update confidential staff files.

·       Responsible for the management of significant information management systems.

·       Responsible and accountable for producing appropriate data for analysis.

·       Produce statistical information

·       Help fill in for other members of the pastoral team in their absence.

·       Liaise with the pastoral team.

·       Report, log and action any safeguarding concerns via the DSL and reporting systems.

 

QUALS/EXPERIENCE

 NVQ 3/Higher Level Teaching Assistant or other appropriate equivalent qualification or experience.

Excellent numeracy, literacy and oral skills.

A minimum 2 years’ experience working with children of secondary age.

A knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of legislation.
