At Southern Cross School, part of Ambition Community Trust, we are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistants to join our committed and relationally inclusive team.

We are recruiting for experienced Teaching Assistants who excel as part of a team and has an understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour regulation strategies. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and welcoming team and will join us in motivating students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy learning environment for all children within the school. 

A Pathways Teaching assistant / Keyworker, includes supporting disengaged pupils in the community, or at home, within the environment that best supports their educational needs. This will also include working together in partnership with school, families, and agencies to overcome pupils' barriers to learn. 

In accordance with the ACT Employee Contract, your full-time equivalent (FTE) appointment is based on 36 hours per week; however, you will only be required to work, and will be paid for, 35 hours per week.

Please note this is a driving role, and you will need a vehicle, a drivers license and business insurance to fulfil the role. 

This role will involve:

• Working with a wide range of class teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning.

• Mentoring children on a 1:1 or group basis.

• Accompanying groups on trips.

• Supporting assessment and evidencing learning.

• Working with the teacher to create learning resources and environments.

• Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all learners.

• Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability.

• Engaging with hard to reach pupils and families to support them with education and beyond

The right candidate will:

• Be educated to National Qualifications Framework Level 3 standard, e.g. NVQ 3, A/AS levels or equivalent.

• Have a proven ability to work on their own initiative.

• Have a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.

• Excel in using relevant technology/equipment.

• Bring a can-do attitude to the role.

• Be committed to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.

You will fully participate in the life of the school, assisting where needed, supporting our most vulnerable pupils. We want candidates who are able to see the possibilities of all our exceptional learners and to develop a provision to make them thrive.

Payroll (If selected):

  • Staff members receive their salary on the 15th of each month, covering the hours worked during that month.

  • For full time staff members, in accordance with the ACT Employee Contract, the full-time equivalent (FTE) hours will be 36 hours per week. However, full time staff will only be required to work—and will be paid for—35 hours per week.
