PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN OUR BUSINESS SUPPORT DEPARTMENT

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the College Payroll, working closely with the Human Resources team and managing a part time Payroll Officer. City Lit has a large pool of hourly paid staff who are paid on a fortnightly basis and c250 employees paid on a monthly basis. There are therefore at least three pay runs a month. Our employees are also eligible to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, or the Local Government Pension Scheme and the Payroll team are responsible for the administration of these Schemes. We have recently implemented a new HR & Payroll system, Select HR and Select Pay and the post holder will be responsible for reviewing and documenting the new payroll processes in place. This is a hands-on role where the successful applicant will be involved in data processing and administrative work as well as the overall management of the function.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience of running a payroll      function in a medium sized organisation
  • Varied and strong experience of using different      payroll software
  • Implementing and reviewing payroll      processes to ensure they are in line with best practice
  • Line management experience
  • Up to date knowledge of current payroll      and pension legislation
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering a high-quality      customer service
  • Knowledge of manual calculations and      payroll theory
  • Previous experience of pensions scheme      administration, in particular Teacher Pension Scheme and Local Government      Pension Scheme
  • Previous experience of auto-enrolment
