The ideal candidate will be confident to take the initiative and contribute to the development of an in-house HR & Payroll system.

Whilst the Trust payroll is currently outsourced to to a payroll bureau,  we are just about to sign up to a new HR & Payroll system which will bring the payroll back in-house. • Preparation and submission of accurate payroll and pension data to the bureau, liaising with the bureau throughout the payroll process and reviewing draft reports as prepared by the bureau
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in approving the payroll and then liaising with the bureau to ensure the bacs pay file is submitted to meet Trust deadlines
  • Supporting the implementation of the HR & Payroll system
  • Day to day operation of the payroll process once brought in-house
  • Support with absence monitoring across the Trust
  • Maintaining LGPS (Avon Pension Fund) and TP defined benefit schemes and other legacy pension funds including month and year end reporting plus all other ad hoc reporting as required to include in relation to starters, opt-outs, leavers, retirees etc.
  • Third party payment preparation
  • Payroll journal production
  • Maintaining relevant manual and computerised records including SIMS and absence recording systems
  • Working closely with HR to maintain integrity of information
  • Liaising with staff at all levels regarding pay and pension queries

You will have effective communication skills, with the ability to answer payroll and pension queries to all levels of staff.  You will be self-motivated, able to work effectively and collaboratively with a variety of staff members across the Trust.

This position is currently based in Bristol Cathedral Choir School at our central Trust offices, located in the centre of Bristol. The successful candidate will be joining a small, welcoming team who work closely together and enjoy supporting one another.

What you will get from Cathedral Schools Trust:

  • The opportunity to join a growing organisation during an extremely exciting time, with the opportunity for progression as the Trust grows in size
  • Membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Employees can join our cycle-to-work scheme.
  • The successful applicant will also have access to an annual leave entitlement of 25 days (pro-rated for part-time staff) plus 10 days (pro-rated for part-time staff) at Christmas, including public holidays.
  • A fun, hardworking and welcoming team who enjoy supporting each other, including a vast support network of senior leaders within the schools and our Trust
  • A 24/7 employee assistance programme which provides counselling, support and advice on a wide array of areas

Informal enquiries can be made via email to Helen Watson, Finance Manager.

Closing Date: Thursday 28th March 2019
