Location: Longdon Park School, Egginton, Derbyshire
HOURS: 37.5hrs per week typically 8.00am – 3.30pm apart from Wednesday where staff must stay till 5pm for a weekly staff meeting

About the School
Longdon Park School opened in June 2015. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

About the Role
To secure high quality delivery, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher;
To deliver a range of subjects in relation to PE, Yoga and relaxation to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area - this may include off site locations including college settings;
To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.

Key Accountabilities:
- Establish and maintain good working relationships in order to promote the development and effective delivery of the school curriculum and maximise children’s achievement.
- Creating a well-ordered and secure environment that will ensure the educational well-being of individual children within the group.
- Working with school leaders to complete and deliver individual pupil plans where pupils have specific needs.
- Contributing and cooperating with other staff and professional agencies as appropriate to the needs of the children.
- Being aware of individual pupil problems/progress/achievements and reporting any concerns to the teacher as agreed
- Being aware of/working within planned learning activities
- Working with the teacher(s) in managing pupil behaviour and reporting as appropriate
Essential Criteria
- Experience of supporting vulnerable young people who have demonstrated challenging or complex behaviours
- Experience of using IT effectively
- NVQ Level 3 or higher and/or relevant qualifications in Sport Science
- The ability to follow instructions from the teacher and also be able to work independently
- The ability to manage behaviour effectively
- Ability to recognise small steps of progress in young people’s journey and development
