Oakfield House School is situated between Blackpool and Preston in Salwick near Kirkham. Oakfield House School provides education for 36 boys and girls aged 5 to 12 years. The pupils in our school have a range of educational needs including emotional, social and Mental Health difficulties which have made it hard for them to cope with mainstream primary schooling. We are also able to provide a separate provision for children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions in a purpose built facility attached to the school. We work hard to maintain a ‘family atmosphere’ at school where an ethos and culture of valuing and mutual respect is evident. Oakfield House is part of Acorn Care and Education, the second largest private sector provider of special needs education in the country operating 17 schools for children and young people who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism

PE Instructor (KS1 and KS2)

We are looking for a PE Instructor to deliver the PE curriculum at our independent special educational needs day school for 42 young people aged 5-12. You will be part of a dedicated team helping to deliver a wide curriculum and help nurture a therapeutic environment to meet a range of needs including social, emotional, mental health, communication and learning difficulties.

About the role

Working as an Instructor at Oakfield House School you will teach PE and Outdoor Education, planning and delivering the curriculum in accordance with the individual needs of our pupils to promote personal development and well-being for all. You will set specific targets for pupils, ensure curriculum coverage, brief all relevant staff and create a stimulating learning environment. It is essential you are aware of pupil progress and able to address or flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have knowledge and experience of working with autistic spectrum disorder or children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties..
