Contract: Part-time freelance. 24 hours per week for 40 weeks of the year over 4 days 

Location: Castlefield Hotel, Liverpool Road, M3 4JR

YMCA Manchester has a proud 175-year history in the city. Our youth and community programmes advocate the needs of some of the most vulnerable and marginalised individuals, and we continually pilot new and innovative projects that engage young people and communities in activities and opportunities for personal development. We operate via a sports and fitness centre (The Y Club) and a subsidiary company (the Castlefield Hotel) on the same site in Castlefield. 


Experience 

• Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting is essential. 

• You should be a hardworking and reliable Sports Coach who is willing to complete the supporting role as required.

• Level 2 coaching qualification or above in your chosen specialist sport is required as a minimum.

• Experience of leading a range of sporting activities to children and young people.

• You should hold a current DBS, preferably registered on the update service, or be willing to get a DBS processed by YMCA Manchester.


Suitability 

• Motivation to work with vulnerable children and young people.

• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with vulnerable children and young people.

• Emotional resilience and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people, complying with our organisations Safeguarding Policy and procedures.

• A team player with good people skills and a high level of enthusiasm and commitment.

• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, driven and organised.

• Excellent communication skills and able to cooperate effectively at all levels.


Safeguarding Responsibilities:

• Be keenly aware of the responsibility for safeguarding children and to help in the implementation and application of the Safeguarding Policy within the YMCA. 

• To report any safeguarding concerns to your line manager and follow reporting procedures as outlined in the YMCA Manchester Safeguarding Policy.
