Dagenham Park is a mixed, 11-18 multi-cultural, Voluntary Controlled Church of England school and we are looking for a highly motivated and exceptional teacher who can communicate their passion for girls’ Physical Education.
This is an exciting time to join the Dagenham Park PE department. In September 2020 a new Basketball Academy was launched to prepare young aspiring basketball players for professional basketball careers. In its introductory season, the DP6 Basketball Academy were crowned as the 2021/2022 ABL Champions.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic faculty which year on year achieves the DfE Schools Games Mark Gold Award. All PE staff are at the forefront of delivering a rich and inclusive extra-curricular programme. The extra-curricular offer includes regular fixtures, a range of Borough sporting events, interform competitions, an annual Sports Day and residential outdoor education trips to Trewern. The Physical Education Department’s trademark sports includes netball, basketball, football, panathlon and athletics.
PE is taught at all key stages with GCSE PE and Cambridge National Sports Studies in KS4 and the Level 3 BTEC Sport delivered in KS5. This is an opportunity for you to develop your expertise in a department who traditionally records positive outcomes in all areas of the curriculum. Applicants who have experience of teaching a Cambridge National, GCSE PE or Level 3 BTEC Sport course would be advantageous. This post will be suitable for either experienced, dedicated teachers or enthusiastic ECT’s.
We moved into our state-of-the-art building in 2012 which includes an astro turf pitch, fitness suite, sports hall, several studios and a climbing wall. Experience in climbing would be desirable but not essential.
The school who has achieved the Ofsted rating ‘Good’ in January 2020, is located within easy reach of central London via the District Line and is easily accessible via the A13. There is a high-quality induction and extensive in-house CPD program available to staff as part of our strong commitment to staff development. All staff have access to the gym, café facilities and regular social events organized by the Well being committee.

Dagenham Park Church of England School continues to be a good school.
Leaders have reviewed what they want pupils to learn and when they want them to learn it in all subject areas. This means that learning is planned and sequenced so that pupils can remember more and develop their skills. Leaders’ actions mean that pupils achieve well at this school. Teachers check that pupils can recall previous lessons through ‘do now’ activities. Teachers implement leaders’ plans well. Pupils’ books include good-quality work and show how the pupils are learning the planned subject content. Teachers and pupils assess the work in books and pupils correct their mistakes and misunderstandings
